Today we talked about:Â
- [0:20] Katrin reports that keeping expectations low and creating simple constraints made it possible to maintain consistency even through travel and big events on her daily sketching habit.
- [4:34] Cleared up questions about what lesson briefs are vs lesson content. Plus announced some exciting live events coming up in October.
- [11:00] Shelley showed us how her trusted systems help maintain forward momentum even during a health crisis. The work keeps moving, just differently.
- [41:34] Rachel talked about her major life transition of sending a kid to college, and how it threatened to derail her progress towards goals for 2025.
- [30:50] Celebrating with Charlene: 20,000 views on her TEDx talk! Plus finishing immigration paperwork. The importance of taking a pause and acknowledge these big wins (and how to systematize this kind of reflection via quarterly review).
- [35:33] What's this "trusted system" thing? It's a framework that lets you stop holding everything in your head — where you put stuff, how you handle it, what you do with it — so your brain can focus on actual creative work. The two key elements of a trusted system: 1) A container for collecting all your tasks and ideas in one place, and 2) A clear process for making decisions about what actually gets done (like top threes).
- [42:36] Jessica takes a stand against traditional planning: Stop treating yourself like an exploited worker in your own brain's capitalist factory, squeezing every out every ounce of productivity under threat of dire consequences, and at the expense of sustainability, rest, and joy. Instead of arbitrary deadlines and punishing goals, focus on process, showing up, and sustainable creative practice that honors your human capacity.
