How to get the most out of our time

The STAR session is live coaching, not a webinar. There's no pre-set curriculum. What happens in the session depends on the questions participants bring.

Spending a few minutes ahead of time to frame your situation into a question will make the coaching more useful for you. The more specific and concrete your question, the more useful the coaching will be—for you and for everyone listening. Question examples follow, in case you need ideas.

The kinds of questions that get useful answers

Useful questions arise from a real challenge you’re facing right now.

Questions that are harder to work with are very broad and abstract (”How do I get better clients?”), or ones that require a lot of context I won't have (”Is my pricing strategy right?”). You can make those kinds of questions into useful questions by adding more context so I have enough to go on.

If I take your question when you’re there live, you’ll also have an opportunity to unmute and discuss with me directly.

Good examples from past sessions:

  • “I have a clear vision for a higher-level offer (short description), but my current clients expect me to keep doing the lower-level work like…. How do I transition without losing income?”
  • “I'm coming off a brutal few months where I said yes to everything so I wouldn't struggle financially. It's not sustainable and leaves me no time for the work I actually want to do. Here's my situation...”
  • “I'm making more money now through higher-priced work doing…, but doing that work is taking up all my capacity. There’s nothing left for my own creative projects, like…. How do I change the balance without losing what's working?”
  • “I have a project (short description) I've been trying to make progress on for two years. I know it matters, I keep making small moves on it, but it never becomes the actual priority. How do I stop letting it get pushed aside?”
  • “I'm at a fork in the road: one path is more financially stable but not the work I care about; the other is the work I believe in but with no guaranteed income. I keep going back and forth. How do I actually decide? Here’s what I’m weighing…”

Want more than an hour with me?

STAR is a good way to get a taste of how I work. If what you're dealing with is complex enough that an hour of group coaching won't cut it, I work with people one-on-one. You can learn more about that here.
